Tao Te Ching Chapter 19-3 No profit, no thieves

Today's Tao

Destroy cleverness. Throw away profit. And there will be no thieves. (Ch.19)

"Sir, excuse me, sir. I have got a very good deal. It is the safest investment on Earth, and, you know, you can transfer your profit straight to Liechtenstein. No tax."

Don't be clever.

Don't think of profit.

Human beings have an unquenchable desire to outsmart others.

That's why we have thieves.

I used to work for Arthur Andersen.

Do you remember this name?

Once upon a time, the name belonged to one of the most prestigious accounting firms on the planet.

It is gone with Enron.
